Asics EX89

The EX89™ blends the traditional influences of the GEL-EXTREME™ from 1989 basketball with modern cushioning properties.

It was originally designed by Toshikazu Kayano in the late 1980s as his first design project with ASICS. The layered leather construction of the upper also features lively color blocking that matches the iconic NBA team uniforms of the era. We've updated the cushioning system with our FF BLAST™ technology. This is complemented by a sculpted heel shape to improve underfoot comfort in everyday scenarios.

The outsole pattern is designed to reflect a city view from the sky. This functional grip feature was originally inspired by the designer's first business trip to the United States in 1987.
